Latest information regarding Coronavirus
The Chief Medical Adviser, Professor Chris Whitty, has said that the group of people who should take 'particular care to minimise their social contact' are:
• People over 70
• Other adults who would normally be advised to have the 'flu vaccine, such as those with chronic diseases
Everyone is asked to minimise their social contact.
Based on this advice, the Midhurst U3A Committee has decided to suspend some Midhurst U3A activities, including talks, groups, outings and social activities until further notice. That means our AGM will be postponed until April 2021. Some groups are operating by email or other means. Contact the Group Leader (see "Groups"). We are also issuing enews to existing members who have agreed to receive them. If you wish to enquire about membership please click on Membership Enquiries on the Contact page.
This website potentially reaches 318 of our members, but as our membership is now nearly 400, please pass on any information sent out by Midhurst U3A and the Third Age Trust to those members who cannot access it.
We are providing help to our particularly vulnerable members during this difficult time.
Following recent Government advicxe and Guidance, the Third Age Trust has created a dedicated page on the national website to keep you up to date with the latest guidance and advice - both general and specific to U3A. To access it, click on U3A Covid-19 Guidance.
Welcome to Midhurst U3A's website. Its purpose is to keep our members and the wider community informed about our activities.
Midhurst U3A is one of over 900 U3As right across the UK, each affiliated to the Third Age Trust. Our U3A exists for the benefit of those, no longer in full time employment, who wish to learn and keep active. Members share their knowledge and experience, and participate in a wide range of educational, creative and leisure activities.
Midhurst U3A was founded in 1994 and has grown into a thriving organisation with a membership of nearly 400. 2019 was our 25th anniversary!
Members attend our monthly General Meetings, join our 40 Special Interest Groups, take part in our outings to places of interest and attend our social events, such as the Fish & Chip Supper pictured below.
Each General Meeting has a guest speaker together with briefings and displays of our activities. They also provide an excellent opportunity to socialise.
Our Special Interest Groups cover a very wide range of subjects including arts, crafts, literature, languages, hobbies and sports. We also organise a selection of visits each year. Here are some photos taken during the recent trip to the Foundling Museum.
The Midhurst U3A annual membership fee has been reduced to £5, renewable from 1st April. If you would to join Midhurst U3A, click on Apply for Membership to download and print a form. We have an admission charge for each monthly General Meeting of £2 for members and £3 for visitors. Some special interest groups make a small charge, especially if they are hiring accommodation or using our computers.
