We have an admission charge for each monthly talk with refreshments of £2 for members and £3 for visitors interested in joining. Some special interest groups make a small charge, especially if they are hiring accommodation.
Midhurst u3a is one of over 1,000 u3as right across the UK, each affiliated to the Third Age Trust. Our u3a exists for the benefit of those, no longer in full time employment, who wish to learn, socialise and keep active. Members share their knowledge, skills and experience, and participate in a wide range of educational, creative and leisure activities.
Midhurst u3a was founded in 1994 and has grown into a thriving organisation with a membership of about 350. 2024 is our 30th anniversary!
Members attend our monthly talks, join our 40 special interest groups, take part in our outings to places of interest and attend our social events. Each monthly talk has a guest speaker together with briefings and displays of our activities. They also provide an excellent opportunity to socialise with tea/coffee and biscuits served before the talk.
Our special interest groups cover a very wide range of subjects including art, crafts, literature, languages, history and some more social activities. We also organise a selection of visits each year to places of interest or to performances.
Midhurst u3a is run by the members for the members. Its success depends on the active participation of its members in its special interest groups, and through members volunteering to help at its various activities - in small ways such as welcoming visitors and new members at our monthly talks, or in larger ways by helping run a special interest group, social event or outing.
