The History Group are a mixed group of 12 who meet on a monthly basis at a group members home. The meeting usually happens on a Friday, but the exact date is agreed by the group each time we meet, which seems to work very well.
We visit historical places of interest and of course enjoy our coffee/cake and lunch breaks incorporated in our days out. Examples of where we have been over the last few months are Brighton, where we had a guided tour around the Lanes to learn all about the history of this area, local museum and of course Brighton Pavilion, We also visited the Royal Armouries Fort Nelson where there was a Poppies Wave on display at the time. Also a visit to Salisbury Cathedral and a second visit to Stratfield Saye.
We each take it in turn to organize a trip and car share to our destinations. Once a visit has taken place the member who organised the trip writes up a short resume of the day that we keep in our folder for future reference.
Unfortunately there is no capacity for additional members at the moment and it has been decided that if numbers were to reduce we would let this happen as 12 is a large number to accommodate in someone's home for the meetings, which we are lucky to be able to do at this moment in time.
