Rambling
Due to the increasing number of participants in the walks and the fact that not everybody wishes to stay for lunch after the walk, the Group will be re-styled as The Rambling Group and an organised lunch will not be included. However, it is anticipated that those who wish to stay for lunch will continue to do so on an informal basis. Also, as some of the car parks we use are not available to the public until after 10:00, the start time for local walks will be standardised at 10:15 - although, when we travel some distance, and this especially applies to London walks, the walk will start later. This might mean an earlier start from Billericay/Basildon. It is the intention to keep the walks on an informal basis.
Walks take place generally on the first Wednesday of each month and are open to all U3A members. There is no need to book in advance. Just turn up on the day. We usually walk about five miles at a leisurely pace. No experience of walking is necessary, although stout footwear and weatherproof clothing are essential and participants should have a sufficient level of fitness to be able to cope with the distance and with the occasional stile or rough section of path. If any further information or assistance with transport is required, please contact the Group Co-ordinator.
Walks will normally take place whatever the weather but, in the event of exceptionally inclement conditions, it will be advisable to check with the co-ordinator before setting out.
