Transport

Interested in learning about the impact, history and technology of transport, in all its forms? If so, this group is for you! We provide the opportunity for you to learn how transport by road, rail, water and air have evolved and how it has shaped our lives in so many ways.

The Transport Group meets 2.30-4.00pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at the Ely Methodist Church, 13-15 Chapel St, Ely. There is a free car park (maximum 2 hours) in St Marys Street (postcode CB7 4ES), from which there is access to the church, unlocked during meetings. See Dates for your Diary below for details of the meetings and other activities.

During the 2020-21 COVID restrictions, we published 64 issues of Transport News edited by Mike Dyson, available through the link 'Access Transport News Issues' on this page. Over 350 articles and other items were contributed by the members, and you can check out the context and subject of these using the indexes, also accessible through links on this page.

From August 2023, the group is coordinated by Colin George, who needs your help setting up a new programme of talks and visits. See Dates for Your Diary for details.
