FRIDAY AMBLING
4th Friday am
Come and join this friendly group to amble for a couple of miles or so in the countryside. Some ambles can be accessed by public transport, but others may only be reached by car. Lifts for those without transport may be possible. Group members take turns to organise the ambles and details are communicated to members via the Group Leaders. We generally walk for between an hour and an hour and a half and usually end at a café or pub for refreshments, or members may bring a picnic lunch.
Over the last year we have been ambling around: Dartford Park and Lakes, Shorne country Park, Greenhithe, Five Arches, Darenth Country Park, Lullingstone, Joydens Wood, Jeskyns, Shoreham and Horton Kirby.
6 of us met for our January walk. We had a lovely walk of about 2 miles around Danson Park. We saw lots of ducks, geese and a black swan. We followed this up with lunch at The Stables where we can recommend the sausage roll with apple sauce!
We were very lucky with the weather on Friday for our walk around Otford. Bit chilly but sunny, we learned a lot about some of the many lovely historical buildings in the village. And that the village pond is listed !
We rounded it off with lunch in the Hospice of Hope cafe, which was very welcome.
