Wollaton

Wine Tasting

March 2023

This group is a social gathering of people who enjoy tasting different wines from around the world while developing friendships.

We meet in each other’s houses by rotation. In view of this we restrict membership to the local area that we can all walk home after an enjoyable evening.

If you live in the following area and would like to join, please contact us as we have two vacancies:

Moor Lane – between Derby Road and Bramcote College
Derby Road – from Moor Lane to Priory Island
Wollaton Vale – from Derby Road to Grangewood Road
In addition Bramcote Lane from the Hemlockstone Island up to and including Parkside.

It is hoped to establish a cluster of Wine tasting groups where members are within walking distance of each other. Present members would be delighted to assist in setting up additional groups so, if you live outside the catchment area and are interested in joining please contact us.

The basis of this Group was established as follows but additional Groups can make their own decisions:

  • Members should live within walking distance of each other,
  • To meet bimonthly, with next meeting date to be decided on availability of members.
  • The group to consist of a maximum of ten members and meet in members’ homes by rotation.
  • Wines and theme of the evening to be decided by the hosts, tasting up to six wines at each meeting.
  • A light snack to be provided by the hosts – suggest cheese and biscuits/bread.
  • Maximum cost to be £12 per person to include snack.
  • Members to buy six ISO tasting glasses which are brought to the meeting and taken home; this reduces the washing up for the hosts. We have a number of ISO Tasting glasses available.
