Music And Dance Groups
Within Cheddar Valley U3A there are several special-interest groups dedicated to music and dance. Please see the main "GROUPS" page of this website to find the days that Groups meet.
BALLROOM AND LATIN DANCE GROUP
Learn modern ballroom and latin dancing, or remember and practice the steps of your youth. Wonderful exercise for body and mind, and the music is good too!
HANDBELL RINGING GROUP
The Handbell Ringing Group meets most weeks at church premises in Cheddar. Occasionally the Group gives a performance at a Cheddar U3A event. Back in 2016 the Cheddar Valley U3A Handbell Ringers celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday by ringing in Cheddar Gorge. To watch a Facebook video of this handbell celebration, copy and paste the link below into your internet browser or click on the link on the 'LINKS' page of this website. ROCK BAND
The Rock Band is for playing musical instruments and singing. The Rock Band's popularity has exceeded expectations and we now have a full complement of musicians and vocalists. A waiting list is to be started otherwise we will end up with an orchestra and choir.
SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING GROUP
The Beginners Scottish Dancing Group meets at 9.30 every Wednesday morning between early September and mid June in Axbridge Town Hall. The group has been running for more than 3 years and although it is still designated a beginners group there is a range of abilities and experience. When numbers allow, the group splits in two to help to meet everyone's needs. Scottish dancing helps maintain both physical and mental fitness, our aim is that everyone goes home smiling.
SINGING FOR PLEASURE GROUP
Our group was formed eight years ago. and has now grown to include over thirty lady members. Rehearsals are held twice monthly, when we practise a variety of songs from several different genres. We also perform locally four or five times a year.
