Cheddar Valley

Groups

Within Cheddar Valley U3A there are approximately 50 special-interest groups. These groups give members the opportunity to participate in their favourite activities and hobbies, or new activities and hobbies, alongside other members with the same interests.

Some of these groups meet in the homes of their members. These groups are limited in size due to the available space, and so they are not always able to accommodate new members.

Larger groups meet in hired rooms, such as church premises or scout premises, and may charge their members a fee to cover the costs of rooms and refreshments.

Members can find the name and phone number of the leader of a group on the latest News Bulletin. The leader will have current information about the venue and how to get there, the fee where there is one, and other information. Please contact the leader in order to check if there is space for an extra member and to let them know, out of courtesy, that you would like to join in.
Non - members can fill in the form on the "Contact" page of this web site to get in touch with us.

NEW – ADVANCED WALKING GROUP: This proposed new Group will attract those looking for faster and longer walks, mostly on the hills (Mendips, Quantocks, SW Coast Path, Exmoor, Dartmoor or South Wales). We will typically cover 6-8 miles, with 1000-2000 feet of climb and descent, at an average speed of just under 3 mph. We will normally walk for 2-3 hours but longer walks, or ones with more hills or further away, will be arranged over a full day if there is interest. Please fill in the form on the "Contact" page if you are interested.

Anyone for TENNIS?
How about some gentle, non-competitive, social tennis. A new Tennis Group, just for members to "have a go", with exercise and well-being in mind, has now started and is doing well. We have a group leader to chat to, so look for an email that has been sent to all members or fill in the form on the "Contact" page.

POETRY GROUP.
We have room for one or two more members. Look for an email that has been sent to all members or fill in the form on the "Contact" page.

If you have an idea for a new group, or would like to start one please contact our Group Liaison officer, either via the email on the contact page of this site, or as detailed in your paper edition of the News Bulletin. Your ideas can then be published in the next edition.
