Italian Language & Culture
Group contact: Jacqueline Bouchard
The Italian group continues to master new grammar, conversation, learn about different regions and customs, and occasionally go to Italian films or watch YouTube Italian educational videos. We particularly enjoyed learning about the Via Francigena, a pilgrimage route originally from Canterbury to Rome. The experience was heightened by a series of three television programmes which followed the journey of a group of well-known people from diverse backgrounds and belief systems.
We now meet fortnightly on Thursday afternoons (3-4 pm) in the cafe at the Penicuik Storehouse.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new non-Italian speakers just now. We have taken in beginners three times and need to consolidate what we have learned. We can accept those with a good standard of Italian. We can converse at a basic level and time is needed to develop confidence.
