U3A is an amazing community and we want to encourage members to share their creativity and ideas, to help support each other going forwards.

We meet in the lovely Music room at Baskerville Hall Hotel, Clyro, HR3 5LE for our monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month.
Coffee is available from 10am and please be there at 10.15 for a 10.30am start.
Guests are welcome.

The session is open to everyone normally at £5 for members (£15 annual membership, renewable in January) and £7 for visitors.
We hope you will come and join us at the Baskerville Hall Hotel, Clyro.

Before 1918 no women were allowed to vote in parliamentary elections. In the early 20th century there were two main groups active in the campaign for women's suffrage, a term used to describe the right to vote.
These two groups were the 'suffragists' who campaigned using peaceful methods such as lobbying, and the 'suffragettes' who were determined to win the right to vote for women by any means. Their militant campaigning sometimes included unlawful and violent acts which attracted much publicity - but did their actions get the vote for women?

Tue Nov 19th Roger Browne - New Orleans to New York - How Jazz influenced musical theatre and how musical theatre influenced jazz musicians. Live samples of the results.
Roger has been pianist with the internationally renowned band, Manchester Jazz, since 1995, having started his jazz career in 1958

He has accompanied the likes of Marion Montgomery, Stephane Grappelli, Humphrey Lyttleton, George Melly, George Chisholm.
He is also President of Stockport Operatic Society and Artistic Director of Manchester Athenaeum Drama Society
Outings
Tue Jul 16th Free Coach trip to Hampton Court Castle/Gardens, Herefordshire.
Join us for a fun day out with coach pick ups from Glasbury, Hay and Clyro.
£12.50 includes full access to the gardens and grounds, plus your castle tour. The tour takes around 45 minutes.

Delight in the water features and island pavilions, breathe in the scent from the rose garden, and explore the verdant sunken garden. Marvel at the 170 year old wisteria arch, and lose yourself in our rather tricky maze!

Enjoy a home made lunch or afternoon tea at the Joseph Paxton (The Crystal Palace) designed Orangery cafe or bring a picnic to eat in the beautiful grounds.
Wed Aug 21st Visit to Knighton Spaceguard Centre and Knighton Museum. Shared transport.
The most significant natural danger to life on Earth comes from asteroids and comets.

The Spaceguard Centre is a working observatory, and the main source of information about near Earth objects in the UK. £10 entrance for the 11am tour.

Garden Visits
Wed May 15th The next Garden Visits Group outing is to Veddw, Devauden, Monmouthshire NP16 6PH at 2pm which will allow for lunch before nearby or perhaps tea afterward. Further details to follow. The cost will depend on numbers. If only 12 then it will be £10, less if more come but more if less than 12.

The gardens are relaxed and wildlife friendly, as the rabbit chomping testifies. A favourite part with visitors and gardeners is the black, reflecting pool
