Groups

The Group Coordinator from 2022 is Jenny Grimes 01254 240707 and the Groups usually meet once a month. In recent month most groups have restarted face to face meetings. Details will be found in the monthly Newsflash(links on the Welcome page), and on the individual group pages.

The Group Coordinator's report for the 2022 AGM is to be found via the link at top right of the News and Views page. This gives a summary of the group's activities for 2021.

Please note that during the Omicron Covid wave and as we adapt to coping with a low level of the virus for the long term, Group Convenors, in consultation with their members, can decide whether to meet on Zoom or face to face.

Also on some of these Group Pages are items of interest, links to follow, quizzes to complete, and activities to fill your time while staying home or isolating. These are not just for the group members, but for any who wish to follow them. Some of them are listed just below....

The Geology Group has links to some fascinating YouTube lectures by Nick Zentner, a university Prof in Washington State USA. If you've ever really wanted to know the history and activity of the Yellowstone Caldera and its many predecessors, this is your man. His style is superb, and he even uses chalk boards. Highly recommended.

The Science Group has links to a number of articles giving the background and history of Covid-19 and previous outbreaks, and analysis of current figures.

And here is a link to Gresham College Lectures a free online resource of lectures on a very wide variety of subjects.
