U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. The U3A approach to learning is – learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained.

Church Stretton U3A was started in May 2010 on the initiative of Barbara Thurston. We have

  • 246 paid up members as of December 2019 – 72 men and 174 women! (see MEMBERSHIP),
  • 15 interest groups (see GROUPS),
  • a regular general meetings programme (see EVENTS),

and

  • a printed newsletter called ‘Jottings’. (See NEWS).

We are affiliated to the national organisation The Third Age Trust / University of the Third Age and the West Midlands U3A Region.

Details of National Events can be found on The Third Age Trust / University of the Third Age website (you will have to create a login account to access pages for members) or in the magazine Third Age Matters. If you need help you may ask a committee member to assist you via the CONTACT page.
