Visit Report: WEDNESDAY, 19th April - Miserden Garden near Stroud
The April visit was transferred to Wednesday, 19th because we moved the Monthly Meeting to the Tuesday. This meant we could take the opportunity to visit a garden not open on a Tuesday and, Miserden Garden near Stroud, was chosen. We started off in the coffee shop and, took advantage of the Gardeners World "2 for 1"offer.
We had a good wander through the garden, which is clearly more full of summer interest but, it was interesting to see the bare bones, together with some spring flowers and, the magnificent ancient Mulberry tree planted in 1620.
The house is not open to the public but, commands a majestic view over the Cotswold hills and is a wonderful backdrop to the garden.

March Garden Visit - Home Farm near Huntley |
For the March garden visit, we visited a garden opened for the National Gardens Scheme, (NGS). It is a large naturalistic garden, with wonderful views. We walked approximately 1 mile through woodland and open country. We saw wonderful wild daffodils, celandine and periwinkle. It is described in the Gloucestershire NGS booklet No 36.
Afterward we had coffee and lunch at a lovely garden centre, Leaf Creative in Huntley. Well worth a visit. Some of us came home with some plants!

February Garden Visit - Picton Garden, Colwell |
We returned to The Picton Garden, Colwell nr Malvern, which we first visited in September to see their national collection of Michaelmas daisies. They also have over 300 varieties of snowdrop (and 200 varieties of daffodils, but we were two early for most of those). It is staggering how different the snowdrops can be. We were also privileged to have a flower and gardening expert with us, Priscilla’s daughter Rosalind, visiting from Canada, who knowledgeably identified many of the other plants and spring flowers in the garden.
A good day out.
