About Chinnor & District and its U3A
Chinnor is a thriving, residential community with a population of circa 7,000. It has great access to the countryside of the Chiltern's area of outstanding natural beauty.
It is situated about four miles from the M40 junction 6. Major towns in the area are Oxford, Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
The 1377 poll tax records show Chinnor with a population of 122 adults. An excellent history of Chinnor is available in the website British Hisory on line. Unfortunately the website won't allow a clickable link to be inbedded but if you search for "Chinnor British History on line" you will find it.
Recently a new Prehistoric Hillfort has been located by the "Beacons of the past" team (nothing to do with our management system!) based at the Chiltern Conservation Board.
