Poetry Read and Write

First Thursday of each month from 2-4pm via Zoom.

“I believe that everyone in the world has one poem that is their soulmate,” declared American poet Emily Dickinson. Here, she pinpoints the essence of poetry – a potent ‘soul language’ that goes beyond prose in its ability to express emotion.

It is natural then, that we turn to poetry to mark significant events in our lives. Profound experiences – whether joyful, poignant, insightful or downright hilarious – may also have inspired us to write poems of our own.

Our Chinnor U3A Poetry Reading and Writing group is aimed at anyone who enjoys reading and/or writing poetry. During the sessions, members will:

  • read and discuss work by published poets
  • have their own work critiqued constructively in a supportive environment
  • receive encouragement to craft their poems, perhaps with a view to publication

Everyone who appreciates poetry is welcome whatever their aims or experience.
