Family History

FAMILY HISTORY
We meet once a month on Mondays 2pm in members homes.

Family history has been described as a cross between a jigsaw and a detective novel. When you find something you can feel quite elated. You want to tell everyone. It is simple to do but you do have to devote a couple of hours each time you do research , if you can open an email attachment you can do family research.
We have 2 groups.
(A) An intermediate group who already have some research experience. Once you have a basic Tree with names dates and places we discuss where to find those all important STORIES about your ancestors using national archives ,military records, newspapers etc.
(B) Beginners are given a basic course covering Births, Deaths, Marriages, Census, Parish Registers, Wills & miscellaneous sources which should enable members to research their own families back at least to the early 1800's. This course is run when there are enough interested members, usually annually
Most of this can be done on the computer Free at our local libraries or at home for a cost.

We are a friendly group who love to discuss everything over tea and biscuits. Come check us out.
