Next month we go to Temple place to see the fabrics exhibition.

JANUARY 2020

A small group of us set out for Buckingham Palace to visit the Queens Gallery. We saw the George IV exhibition, it had some amazing pieces and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We then strolled through St James’s Park and saw herons and the famous pelicans.

SEPTEMBER 2019

Our art Appreciation group visited the newly refurbished Army Museum in Chelsea. There was an extensive collection of war posters and an exhibition of “women at war”.
Local artists were exhibiting portraits of famous women who had achieved great things in the services. A very disturbing description of how the Polish people had suffered during the war was also on show.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch in their cafe and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
We are going to Tate Britain next month and hope to take one of their free guided tours.

JULY 2019
The Art Appreciation group visited Hall Place in Bexley this month. It has a Tudor Hall and magnificent gardens as well as several exhibitions. The group really enjoyed the day.

----------------------------------

MARCH
Our group went on its yearly pilgrimage to Temple place. The exhibition this year was of John Ruskin’s work. We really enjoyed it and finished the day with a nice lunch.

JANUARY 2019
The Art Appreciation group started the New Year with our annual meal in January. Our visit in February took us to the Queens Gallery to see the Russian exhibition. We all enjoyed it and especially enjoyed all the Faberge items. We finished the day with a walk through St James Park, the weather was perfect and as well as the daffodils we were thrilled to see the 3 pelicans posing for photos by the lake. Next month we are off to 2 Temple Place to see the Ruskin exhibition.

---------------------------------------

NOVEMBER 2018
Our Art Appreciation group joined up with the visiting London group and went to the Cinema museum, a most unusual and quirky place where the custodian gave us a tour and we saw some old footage of original film. We all found it very interesting and enjoyed our day.

---------------------------------

OCTOBER 2018
We travelled to Cambridge specifically to the Fitzwilliam Museum. We thoroughly enjoyed the three exhibitions there. It is a wonderful Museum that we would recommend that anybody visit.

-------------

SEPTEMBER 2018
This month our group visited the Waltham Abbey museum and had a talk on Walter Spradbury, a war artist and very interesting character who none of our group had heard of. Our speaker was very knowledgeable and made the talk most enjoyable. After lunch we went to the Abbey where a volunteer gave us a talk on the history and architecture of the Abbey. It was a very varied and interesting day. Next month we are heading out to Cambridge to visit the Fitzwilliam Museum.

---------------------------------

July 2018
In July, 9 of our group visited the British Library for the “James Cook - The Voyages” exhibition. It was excellent and we all felt we learned a lot about the Age of Enlightenment we didn’t know. We then enjoyed a good lunch so a good day was had by all.

-----------------------------------------

MAY
This month the Art Appreciation group visited the Queens Gallery to see the Charles 11 exhibition, it was excellent .

--------------------------------------

FEBRUARY 2018
In February our group had a visit to the Welcome collection in Euston; we had a short guided tour and then had plenty of time to wander round the Medicine Man gallery.

In March we will re visit one of our annual favourites, 2 Temple Place, with its very impressive interior and excellent exhibitions. This year the exhibition is on the history of jazz.

---------------------------------------------

On Wednesday 12th April 12 members of the Art Appreciation group set off for a visit to Fulham Palace. We walked from the tube station through the Bishops Park, the sky was blue and the gardens were beautiful, the crowning glory being the magnificent wisteria in full bloom. We had coffee in the delightful cafe where our guide met us. She had worked at the Royal Academy for 40 years and she certainly knew her stuff. The tour lasted an hour and a half and was very varied and informative. Filming was going on at the same time and we met a few puritans along the way. A great day was had by all, most of us saying we would go back again.
