Real Ale Appreciation
|Convener||Chris Stott||01291 621546|
We meet monthly, there is no fixed date, time or place, it may be an evening pub visit in Chepstow or during the day if further afield, maybe Bristol or Gloucester. The aim is to taste and discuss Real Ales and what makes their flavour distinctive, as well as enjoying the surroundings a fine hostelry, hopefully. Suggestions for outings are made by anyone and new members are warmly welcomed, look on Beacon for our next outing and contact details for the convenor.
January 2020 we kicked off with a great trip to the Bespoke Brewery in Mitcheldean, organised by Alan. We tasted 3 beers on arrival, had an informative tour of the breaery, then had a restorative pint after in their own pub on the premisies.
Febuary 2020 we went to Newport, various pubs visited including the Tiny Rebel, Murenger House and Cellar Door, a micro pub
In 2019 we have had 2 visits to Bristol and one to Gloucester. We've been to The Boat in Redbrook and the Queens Head in Chepstow, (a regualr haunt). We are branching out into Cider tasting as well, and there's rumour of a trip to Cardiff in the near future.
Our group is quite small and get around 10 people coming along to our sessions. If you are interested in joining us please contact the Convener.
