Tai Chi Chuan, or simply Tai Chi, is sometimes described as meditation through movement. Our ten week course covers the first seventeen moves of the set of one hundred and eight, developed by Moy Lin-Shin in Canada in the 1970’s. It is based on Taoist style Tai Chi which is itself a modified form of Yang style. We also include some Qi Gong exercises closely associated with the moves.
Moy style Tai Chi was developed with an emphasis on health and well-being. Slow movements of the body are designed to develop flexibility, coordination and balance, at the same time helping relaxation and reducing stress.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to practise the sequence of moves with some confidence. As the teaching of the course is sequential, to gain the full benefit, it is important to attend all lessons.
