Leader: Jane Humphreys
The Local History Group meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month. We are interested in all aspects of local history in the Essex area not just Chelmsford.
Our meetings consist of either presentations/talks by recommended speakers or visits to places of historical interest where we are given a guided tour. The indoor talks are normally held held in the Goodwin Room at at Boreham Village Hall, Main Road, Boreham CM3 3JD but are currently being delivered 'virtually' by Zoom video meetings. We have arranged some covid-safe outdoor history walks for 2021, please see our programme of events attached or view them in the Events page.
In the past we have arranged very successful and enjoyable visits to places such as the Roman Circus in Colchester, The Moot Hall in Maldon, Ingatestone Hall, Galleyood Common and an extra special Christmas lunch in Layer Marney Tower. The photographs' on this page reflect some of those visits.
All new members are welcome. Later this year we will be introducing a small annual subscription to cover the cost of the hall hire and the speakers fees. Each outing is paid for separately when you book your place (see prices on the programme of events).
