This group is for people who are researching their family tree and are interested in their roots. The group covers aspects of Genealogy i.e. the academic study of lineage and the creation of a pedigree and Family History which is about gathering information about our ancestors lives, including the locations and periods in which they lived. Often the discussion is group led, but sometimes we have guest speakers or simply watch and discuss a genealogy video.
Why join our group? Well, genealogy research can be a lonely activity and you may prefer the companionship of other
genealogists on the trail of their ancestors’ past. You may have got 'stuck in a rut' in which case, our group is a great place to find help and get inspired. On the other hand you might feel you have a great deal of knowledge and experience which you would like to pass on to others to help them with their research.
If you started researching 30 or 40 years ago you will no doubt have noticed how much things have changed! Computers have somewhat taken over with indexes and millions of records now available on-line. Have you kept up to date with these changes? What websites are the most useful? What new research tools are available? What family history software should you use (if any)? Find out the answers to these questions (and more) as members of our group share their experiences and pass on information. You'll soon be busily expanding your Family Tree once more.
