Walking Groups
Within Cheddar Valley U3A there are now three established walking groups, and a fourth, more advanced, is on offer. Please see your news bulletin to find contact details for all four.
EASY WALKING GROUP
The Easy Walking Group meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month, in the morning. We walk for about an hour and a half at a leisurely pace, mostly flat or with minor hills and no stiles. Dogs are usually welcome. We meet to carshare for the walk at 10 am, or at the starting point to set off at 10.30 am. Our walks are usually followed by coffee at a nearby location.
Wednesday 25th April, Winscombe to Sandford. Meet at the Sharpham Road playing fields carpark ready to leave at 10.am, if you would like to carshare, or at the carpark in Sandford Road, Winscombe, BS25 1HA, by The Woodborough Inn, ready to start at 10.30am. A level walk along the Strawberry Line to Sandford, a bit farther than some recent walks, an hour and a half walking, suitable for dogs. Hopefully some apple blossom in Sandford. Wednesday May 22nd. A circuit around Cheddar Reservoir (not the path round the reservoir). Meet at the Sharpham Road playing fields carpark, BS27 3DR, ready to start at 10.30am. The walk is on tracks and paths below the reservoir, about an hour and a half, suitable for dogs. Coffee afterwards at the Bath Arms. MODERATE WALKING GROUP
The Moderate Walking Group meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month, in the morning. We walk for about an hour and a half at a brisk pace, avoiding stiles if possible. Dogs are usually welcome. We meet at the starting point to set off at 10.30 am. Our walks are usually followed by coffee at a nearby location. If you can walk around the top of the Cheddar reservoir in 45 to 50 mins our pace will suit you.
Wednesday May 1st. Shipham circuit. Meet at the Shipham Village Hall carpark, New Road, BS25 1SG, ready to start at 10.30am. A circuit around Shipham, about 3 miles, hilly in places but good views if it is clear. Suitable for dogs, but one stile. We can have coffee either at The Swan en route, or at the Lillypool Cafe afterwards. For more information or to carshare contact Chris on the usual number published in the News Bulletin.

ORIGINAL WALKING GROUP
The Original Walking Group was set up to give enjoyment and a chance to see the countryside, also as an opportunity to keep reasonable fit. We start our walks from many locations, and all have a chance to research and prepare them. Our walks average 4 to 7 miles, ranging from Easy and flat to Hilly, and stiles are included! We meet about once every 2 weeks, starting at 2pm during British Summer time, 1.30pm in the winter, Tuesday then Wednesday, then Thursday.
