During the present Covid-19 Coronavirus situation a number of internet-based talks have been arranged. Theses will take place on two Thursdays of each month and are provided by Mirthy (click on the link in the right-hand column to visit the Mirthy website). Please scroll down to see the talks that are currently planned. These talks are only available to paid-up members of Cheddar Valley U3A. Internet access is required, and all members with email addresses will automatically receive an email from the CVU3A Membership Secretary a few days in advance giving the registration and/or log-in information.

Under normal circumstances there would be a U3A Meeting Point in Cheddar Library every Monday 10:30 am to 12:00 noon, where potential new members could drop in for a coffee and a chat.

Under normal circumstances, Monthly Talks would be held on the First Thursday of the month, normally at Cheddar Village Hall (i.e. Church House).

Under normal circumstances, Coffee Mornings would be held on the Third Thursday of the month, except August, at Cheddar Village Hall from 10:00am to 11:30am. Coffee mornings are open to all and are a good time for potential members to come along for a chat.

Dates for your Diary
Thu Jul 9th An internet-based talk entitled "Gongoozling for beginners".
After 30 years as a police officer in Sussex, Neil thought this sounded just the tonic for retirement; relaxing, stress free and with the chance to grow his beard and hair. This is a light hearted journey around some of the 2000 miles of navigable waterways in a 58 foot canal narrow boat across Britain, with just a small dose of history, lots of humour, a rather wet puppy and only one broken arm …… so far.
Thu Jul 23rd An internet-based talk entitled "Inside Story".
Taking you on a fantastic journey of discovery inside and around your body. 100,000 heartbeats every day, bones stronger than concrete, nerve signals faster than a racing car, muscles that shake a leg, why colour is only skin deep, eyes that see everything upside down, a brain that forecasts your future, amazing medical cures and the germs that defeated science. You can’t live without it, so discover the amazing facts and surprising stories of your body.
Thu Aug 6th An internet-based talk entitled "Queen Victoria".
Her Majesty will visit your town and remind you about the events that have occurred during her long reign.
Thu Aug 20th An internet-based talk entitled "Mad, Bad And Dangerous".
This talk is about military ideas, inventions and operations that in one way or another, failed to make the grade. Incompetence, haste and wishful thinking have all played their part, in some of the most scandalous failures in military history. Broad in scope, ‘Mad, Bad And Dangerous’ discusses a variety of blunders and breakdowns on land, at sea and in the air.
