Cheadle & Gatley

Ukulele

A visit and demonstration by the Ukulele Group from Heaton Mersey and Reddish U3A left us so enthused that 23 members signed up for our new group on the spot. At our first session, after an hour of tuning, plucking and strumming most of us could tell our left hand from our right and count to 4.

Following our triumph at the 2017 Christmas party we waited for the offers to come rolling in. Most of us have now mastered the basics so it’s now mainly a matter of learning new songs and enjoying ourselves.

Following the Covid hiatus the group resumed in September 2022 but our numbers are sadly reduced. There is currently a core of 7 or 8 players who meet at St James' Church Hall at 14.00 hrs on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month.

We have recently performed for the Bethany Church Oasis Group and, of course, at the U3A 2022 Christmas event. We now play a wide variety of tunes to a reasonably high standard.

We would welcome new members and I can arrange additional help for beginners. Just contact me on 312 5072
