DECEMBER OPEN MEETING - Thursday 19th December 2019

The meeting will gently ease you into the Yuletide spirit with a Christmas cracker and a mince pie with your tea or coffee. Your desire to party will be further enhanced by a short seasonal quiz and, perhaps, a few other festive surprises.

Our speaker will be Mark Lewis with a talk entitled Cribs, Cards and Christingles - The Origins of Christmas Traditions and Customs. He explores how our colourful Christmas traditions and customs came into being and how they are celebrated. The presentation also includes some of the lesser-known folklore including Jesse Trees, Chrismons, Mumming Plays and Wassailing.
