Wine Appreciation Group
An introduction to the world of wine. The group meet to discuss and taste a wide and varied selection of wine from around the world. At certain times of the year visits are arranged to local vineyards and occasionally we are able to obtain the services of wine experts from retailers like Waitrose to add to the groups knowledge

3rd January - Quiz and “leftovers” – an opportunity to introduce others to your favourite, or newly
discovered, Christmas/New Year tipple.
7th February – German Wines.
7th March – What to drink with fish and chips.
4th April – Yellowtail brand wines.
2nd May - Wines from outside the usual wine producing countries – perhaps Poland, Slovenia,
6th June - Summer Party.
4th July - Annual Tour – to be arranged.
1st August - Serving red wine at room temperature on a hot day is a mistake. Please produce a
cool bottle containing red wine from the Loire Valley, or Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
5th September - Wines to go with cheese – everyone to bring a cheese to go with their choice of
3rd October - The combination of Grenache and Carignan Red Grapes has been successful for a
long time in the South of France and the Southern hemisphere. Please research and bring a
bottle of Grenache and Carignan.
7th November – Fortified wines – aperitif, digestif or just to drink on their own.
5th December - Christmas Party.
Venue: We have two regular venues, depending on the time of year, so I
would ask any prospective new members to contact me first so that I can ensure they have the
