WALKERS
This is a cheerful and highly successful group, the undoubted popularity of which may be ascribed equally to the health-giving properties of gentle to moderate exercise in the open air and lunch afterwards in carefully selected country pubs.
WALKERS: A harder route than Strollers. 10 a.m. normally on the FOURTH Wednesday of the month. This starts and ends for lunch at a country pub.
The Walkers will meet at 10.00am Wednesday 24th April 2024 at ‘The Willeymoor Lock’, Bradley Green, A49 Tarporley Road, nr Whitchurch. (GR SJ 535451, PC SY13 4HF.) Leave Chester on the A41 SP Whitchurch, after Grindley Brook at the next roundabout turn off the A41 onto the A49 SP Tarporley. In approx. 1.75miles at Bradley Green the pub is off to the left of the road with its own car park next to the canal lock. Entry is over the locks. Roads, paths, fields and towpath. Some Sandstone Trail and Bishop Bennet Way.
The Walkers will meet at 10.00am Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at ‘The Old Barbridge Inn’, Old Chester Road, Barbridge. (GR SJ 615566, PC CW5 6AY.) The pub is signposted to the left off the A51 Chester to Nantwich road at Barbridge just beyond the North West Farmers site. Our last visit was pre. COVID in November 2018, more than 5years ago. As we all feel a little older and I certainly know I do, I’ve put in some escape routes to lower the mileage for those feeling a little crumbly. Please let us know on the day and don’t feel the slightest embarrassment, don’t forget I can’t take part as I’d like to but I’ll make every effort to give you interesting routes that suit everybody. (I’m working on DIGNITAS for some sponsorship but they’ve got no facilities within walking distance).
Don’t forget to check the weather forecasts for both outings and dress accordingly.
Both outings will have good hard surfaces to walk on, with no stiles, gates or muddy fields, but remember to check the weather forecasts before choosing your gear.
