We had a very enjoyable visit to the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Exhibition in Liverpool-most enjoyable show and company.
At the end of January we enjoyed a brilliant guided tour of the Exhibition, An English lady’s wardrobe, at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. Our excellent guide, Alan had us enthralled with his talk on Emily Tinne’s passion for fashion and shopping in the first half of the 20th Century. On her shopping trips she happily bought everyday off the peg clothing as well as high end fashion and often had her clothes made for her. There were so many beautiful dresses on display, many of them she had never worn. At the start of the Second World War she packed everything into crates where they were stored for many years until after her death. A fascinating insight into the life of Mrs Tinne.
