EXHIBITIONISTS
Two events in March filled a day for us, starting at Chester Cathedral for a ’Discovery Tour' with John, an excellent guide. From the Refectory, through the Nave, the Chapter House, and the garden, we learnt about the Cathedral's fascinating history, both formal and informal, like mismatched architecture and the location of the Chester Imp!
In the afternoon a smaller hardy group headed for the Grosvenor Museum to take in the current exhibition 'Speed of Change', all about the everyday objects we used before the microchip and the apps came along. Talk about all our yesterdays! Radios, typewriters, big, black telephones, here was the fabric of our working and home lives - it was a wonderful trip down memory lane. And it was enhanced by curator Liz, who told us the background to the exhibition, including so many items from the museum's tech guides who are, thankfully, all hoarders.
On April 22 we will visit the Tate Mobile Art Exhibition at Tarporley High School to see works by Andy Warhol and David Hockney among others, and in May visits to the Cheshire Print Fair and Lady Lever Gallery are planned.
