Knit and Natter
The U3A Knit & Natter group usually meet on the third Thursday of the month from 10am until 12pm.
We enjoy knitting but also have lively discussions on all sorts of subjects over tea and biscuits.
The group is keen to knit for charities. Currently we are knitting chip shop babies jumpers and caps. The term ‘chip shop babies’ began when it was discovered that new born babies in developing countries arrived into this world with no clothes to put on. As a result the newborns were wrapped in newspaper, just like a fish supper, to keep them warm. News of this reached knitters up and down the UK who developed a simple vest and hat pattern which even a novice knitter could cope with. As a result tens of thousands of vests have been knitted and sent out to needy babies around the world.
I would be happy to assist in the forming of a second group.
