This group discusses the lives of people who have made an impact on individual communities or societies.
These are often people who are well-known because of their contribution to areas such as Science, Art, Music, Literature, Politics or Sport. However, they also uncover the lives of those “hidden” from history, whose contribution may have been overlooked, but who have nonetheless, pushed the boundaries of accepted behaviour, often at great personal cost. The group provides the opportunity for people to discuss and learn about the personal lives and social contribution of specific individuals. It gives all the members a different perspective on “fame” and “greatness”.
They are an informal, self-learning group. Members of the group choose the subject they want to discuss and they share their interests, knowledge and thoughts with each other, through discussion, reading and research.
