Latest News

Due to the current Covid situation in our area and the risk that the poorly ventilated Paddocks Community Hall would pose to our members, the Committee decided at the August Committee Meeting to delay the restart of main meetings at The Paddocks until Monday 15th November 2021. (This will be reviewed at the October Committee meeting). OUR AGM HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED AND WILL TAKE PLACE AT SMALLGAINS HALL ON FRIDAY 5th NOVEMBER, DOORS OPEN 1.30pm. Doumentation can be found in the Members Area. The Coffee Afternoons will continue to be held at Smallgains Hall on the first Friday of each month at 1.30 pm.

Groups will continue as planned. See Groups page. A list of upcoming events including Group events (where I have been informed by the Liaison), are on the Events page.

  • We are looking for a new Group Liaison or Liaisons to take over the Local History Group. You don’t have to be a current member of the group, although it would be useful. This is a great worthwhile group, well worth continuing. Please give it your consideration, as the group will close, if no-one comes forward. Please contact our Groups Coordinator Jan Collett to show your interest.
  • The Local Theatre group requires a new Liaison or Liaisons.

It is with much regret that after 4 years of shear enjoyment with you, I will not be running the Theatre Group anymore, for various reasons. But we still have one show outstanding, that is Riverdance, which was rescheduled from last year to 25th September, this year. It is an afternoon matinee and starts at 2.30 pm. If you are one of the 26 group members who has a ticket and are going, your original ticket is still valid. I will send out a reminder nearer the time.
The post is open to a new Group Liaison to keep it going, contact me or Jan Collett, if you wish to step in or do it with a friend. Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to all the many members of the group who have supported it throughout the years, it has been a pleasure and a delight to do it.
Thank you everyone!
Chris Summers
