Current Affairs

Group LeaderKathleen Thompson

The Current affairs group met again in the Monkfield Arms although it was perhaps not the best venue in the school holidays. However, we had a wide ranging discussion on the benefits of encouraging better health in a society with an increasingly ageing population. The discussion's stimulus was research from a science paper brought in by Mike who chairs the meetings. We also discussed changes to the probate system introduced by Ted. That seemed to lead us to gadgets to monitor individuals, social care and first aid training.

The group decided that we would meet 2:30-4:00pm on the second Tuesday of each month (except August) at the current venue until an alternative is worked out. That may depend on numbers, but we welcomed two new group members Ann and Chris.

Future discussions will not just be specific age related concerns, but may be related to other issues of the day e.g. Climate change. Come along and join us.
