Cam, Dursley & District

Welcome

At U3A there are no formal courses of study. Instead we have "Interest Groups" where like-minded souls get together and learn, play or talk about a variety of subjects. Whilst every Interest Group has a leader, he or she is really a lead coordinator and the idea is that all group members can share their knowledge, skill or enthusiasm on the subject, perhaps taking a turn at leading or organising a particular meeting.

Cam, Dursley & District is one of the newest, being launched in 2014 and confirmed as a fully fledged local U3A in March 2015. We currently have more than 500 members and about 40 interest groups, and are growing all the time!

We hold a monthly meeting at Dursley Methodist Church on the third Thursday starting at 10.30 a.m. (excluding August) We usually host an invited speaker, who is preceded by a little bit of business and followed by tea, biscuits and socialising. See the "Events" page for further details. You can come along to our monthly meetings twice to test the water before formally joining us, no charge. There is an annual membership subscription (see the Membership page), for which you can attend the monthly meetings, receive our local bulletin by e-mail and get the regular National U3A magazine through the post.

The Interest Groups hold meetings at varying intervals and concentrate on a specific area of interest, ranging from bridge to books, Table tennis to Travel. Take a look at the Groups page to see what's currently on offer. You need to be a member before you can join an Interest Group to ensure you are covered for insurance purposes.

Most interest groups make a small further charge at each meeting to cover venue hire etc. or a somewhat greater charge if visits are involved.

You can access copies of our monthly bulletin, full of information and news, from the links on the right of this page.

Please feel free to get in touch via our Contact page if you would like to know more, or look at the Membership page. Alternatively, look at our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page.

We look forward to seeing you!
