Poetry 2
We are a small group of around eight that meets every second Friday in the month in each other’s houses. Our programmes have varied quite a lot since we formed about 3 years ago. We have worked through themes, favourite poems and types of poetry.
Currently we are looking at a wide range of our own individual poets, chosen by first putting their names into a bag, then pulling out at random for ones to present on! So far, in this way we have enjoyed John Clare, R S Thomas, TS Eliot and John Betjeman. Our programme until next February will include poets such as Elizabeth Barret Browning, Gerald Manley Hopkins and D H Lawrence. After that, I think we’ll need another coffee morning at Leaf and Ground to plan what we want to do next!
