Maths in Art and Literature
For the next session starting in September 2019 I'm repeating my third series of lectures on the mathematics of the past, present and future. Titles and topics are:
One thing after another (History)
Who do you think you are? (Genetics)
The butterfly effect (Chaos)
To boldly go (Science fiction)
Life, the universe & everything (Life)
Sometime in 2020 I'll be introducing a new fourth series on the mathematics of secrecy. Provisional titles and topics for this are:
From Caesar to Enigma (Classical cryptogrophy)
Squeamish Ossifrage (Public Key cryptography)
Money, money, money (Bitcoin and blockchain)
In search of the travelling salesman (The P=NP? problem)
We meet at the Fire Station meeting room in Geisher Road Callander from 10:00- 12:15 with a break halfway through. You'll need to bring a mug (for coffee, tea, etc) and £1 (50p of which goes to the firefighters charity instead of room rental).
