The Mahjong group will meet fortnightly on Tuesdays at 2.00pm in the Kirk Hall, South Church Street, Callander.
The dates for the coming year 2019 - 2020 are as follows:
Autumn 2019: 17th Sep to 26th November 2019
Spring 2020: 14th Jan to 16th June 2020
Mahjong is a popular – but quite complicated board game – originating from China. The tiles are exotic and add greatly to the enjoyment of the game. Although in China the game is closely associated with gambling, we play the Western version. Under the patient guidance of Fiona Gibson, beginners are welcomed.
Each time you come please be ready to pay £1 towards the hall rental and 50p towards a cup of tea or coffee. It would help if you would bring along your own mug. We are grateful to the Bridge Club that has kindly agreed to allow us to use their tables and to our U3A Committee that gave us a grant to buy 2 tables of our own.
If you have a mahjong set, please bring it along and for those who like to do some homework before coming, you can access an excellent article in Wikipaedia under Links on the right of this page. Contact Fiona Gibson 01877 331 508
