This group is for people who are already familiar with the basics of digital photography and want to meet with others with a similar interest, learn from each other and improve their skills.
The group meets once per month (usually 2nd or 3rd Wednesdays, 2pm). At each meeting we review the pictures that members have submitted fr that month's assignment. This may be followed by a discussion or online tutorials on a digital photography topic. Group members should send up to five photographs on the assignment topic to the group leader or bring them to the meeting.
As we are all at home observing the social distancing rules, we are looking for something to keep us active. There is no need to stop taking pictures or sharing our work with others. So while the restrictions stay in place we are carrying on as the "Virtual U3A Digital Photography group".
We can't go out and about taking pictures so we have dropped any of our topics which need us to leave home and have added some which are better suited to being at home.
The way the virtual group will work is as follows:
- Take your pictures on this month's theme as usual and prepare your five pictures for submission
- Send your pictures John on the day of the virtual meeting.
- John will upload all the pictures somewhere onto the cloud (it might take a day or two) and then circulate a link to the group.
- Look at everyone's pictures online and add any comments.
So the themes for forthcoming meetings are:
|15 Apr 2020||Glass|
|13 May 2020||At home|
|17 Jun 2020||View from the window|
We have two long term assignment running:
"Weather" For the February 2021 meeting each member should submit 12 pictures on the theme of "Weather" all taken since February 2020.
"Calendar". For the October 2021 meeting each member should submit their three favourite pictures that they have taken in the preceding year. All pictures must be landscape rather than portrait orientation. From these the group will pick 13 pictures for the 2022 Calendar.
