Family History: Introduction
We have now held 12 introduction to family history courses and 100 members have attended over the past 6 years. A further course will be organised when sufficient numbers of people express an interest to make a viable group.
This short course will let you know what family history is all about and how to start your research. You will look at Civil Registration records (England & Wales back to 1837, Scotland back to 1855 and Ireland back to 1863) and Census records for England, Wales and Scotland between 1841 and 1911. Also included are topics on looking after your data, web sites and other sources of information.
The course lasts for six, 2-hourly sessions, which are usually held on alternate Friday afternoons at the Community Room in Buxton Fire Station however due to current restrictions the last on was held using Zoom.
