Canasta
Meetings are held fortnightly every other Tuesdays of each month
Time: 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Canasta is starting again on Tuesday 12th October. For the foreseeable future we are going to meet at the Bushey Bowls Club which has a bigger room. The hall at the Bushey Museum is very small and it was felt a bigger room would be a better idea. We can only meet there until about the middle of April, after which we will probably go back to the Museum.

The game of Canasta is said to have originated in Montevideo, Uruguay, around 1940. From there it spread to Argentina, the USA and throughout the world. It was extremely fashionable in the 1950's, threatening for a while to displace Contract Bridge as the premier card game.
It has now seen a revival and is played in many parts of the world. Usually there are four players in fixed partnerships, partners sitting opposite each other. Two 52 card standard packs plus 4 jokers are shuffled together to make a 108 card pack.
New players and beginners will be very welcome.
