Monthly Meeting - On Zoom - 10am. The Speaker will be Isabella Segal on "My Transgender Journey"

This is a very moving and often heart-rending story

Isabella Segal

As well as formidable accountancy experience and skills, Isabella has something different to offer her clients – an incredible life story.

In May 2013, with full support of NLP, she transitioned to Isabella and is now at the forefront of the LGBT business community in London, a prominent member of OUTstanding, a networking organisation for LGBT professionals.

A partner at NLP, Isabella specialises in accounting, auditing, tax planning and financial advice, along with business restructuring and recovery, complex tax enquiries and heads up the forensic accounting division.

Isabella qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980, joined Levy Gee a year later and became a partner in 1985. Before joining NLP, she spent 20 years developing her own private practice, advising a wide range of loyal clients.

A problem solver who is ready to embrace change, she understands the challenges that life – and running a business – can bring and is uniquely placed to offer advice in particular to the LGBT business community.

Outside of work she is involved and supports a number of charities including those in the LGBT arena. Other favourite pastimes include cycling, hiking and supporting Arsenal as she is a season ticket holder.

Tue Aug 18th Monthly Meeting - On Zoom - 10am. The Speaker will be Dr Helen Fry on the subject of "Interrogation!".

Helen originally gave us a Talk on 20th February 2018 about "The Secret Listeners of Trent Park" which received rapturous applause. She was due to give us a Talk about Rudolph Hess this year on 18th June. But this sadly had to be cancelled by Helen due to an unfortunate accident.
Tue Sep 15th Monthly Meeting - On Zoom - 10am. The Speaker will be Rupert Dickens on "Madam Pompadour & King Louis XV"
Tue Oct 20th Monthly Meeting - On Zoom - 10am. The Speaker will now be Ian Keable on the subject of “The Art Of Trickery: How Magicians are seen in Paintings, Prints & Cartoons"

This talk is on how magicians have appeared in art throughout the centuries, whether in paintings, satirical prints or cartoons. Early artists used the magician to symbolise the mysterious and the unknown, associating them with astrology and tarot cards.

In the 16th century Pieter Bruegel and Hieronymus Bosch produced two of the most famous and striking pictures of the conjurer performing the Cups and Balls trick. The 18th and 19th century saw a proliferation in engravings and lithographs showing the magician both indoors and on the streets.

Cartoonists and satirists delighted in linking politicians with skulduggery with images of them featuring the Three-Card Trick, Vanishing illusions or pulling a Rabbit out of the Hat.
Tue Nov 17th Monthly Meeting - On Zoom - 10am. The Speaker will be Simon Gregor ---- Again ---"An Illustrated talk about London-- Part 2"

Those of you who were lucky enough to have attended "Part 1 on 15th January 2019" will be eagerly awaiting Simon's brilliant concluding Talk about our capital city.
