DESCRIPTION
Whilst the Petanque group held its first meeting in April, 2016 it has proved so popular that we now have three Groups in the summer and one in winter.
All the Groups use the two pistes (playing areas) at Poplars, but not at the same time.
We use U3A equipment, though some members may like to buy their own boules.
Warm,casual wear is appropriate.
We have received coaching and gained knowledge from experts who I think will keep us under their wing! So no knowledge is needed to get started.
The game can be played with two, three or four in each team. A maximum of sixteen people can play on the two pistes at any one time.
Participants can bring their own refreshments.
PÉTANQUE OR BOULES?
Boules is a collective name for a wide range of games in which the objective
is to throw or roll heavy balls (called boules in France, and bocce in Italy) as close as possible to a small target ball. English lawn and crown green bowls, and Pétanque are different forms of Boules.
