Burntwood & District

Folk Dance

We usually meet on the second and last Tuesday afternoon of the month, please see Events page for meeting dates. We start at 2 pm and dance for about an hour, have tea/coffee and a chat and then have a further 30 minutes of dancing. The cost for all of this is £2.

No experience is necessary, new members are always welcome.

We now meet at The Firs Club, 7 Rugeley Rd, Burntwood WS7 1AG. The parking area behind the club is now free and unlimited.

We are a beginners group dancing a slightly more refined choice of dance but ones similar to those done at a barn dance. So to explain, a caller (that would be me) walks the dancers (that would be you) through the steps of the dance a couple of times and then the music is played and the caller talks the dancers through the dance. Dancers are usually in pairs but don’t worry you can either bring your own partner or meet one there. You often change partners during a dance anyway….. sometimes even intentionally!
