Buntingford

Welcome to Buntingford u3a.

Established in 2009, we are part of the international u3a movement which seeks to promote learning within the third age of life, that is, people who are retired or no longer working full time. It is not an academic institution delivering qualifications but an association of individuals who use the knowledge and skills they have by sharing them with other members. The "curriculum" covers just what the membership of any u3a wishes and groups are set up to cater for the various interests of the members. Some interest groups are almost universal, for example, walking, local history, keep-fit and a range of sports will always be available as well as cultural activities such as music whether that is for performance or simply appreciation.

Buntingford is the smallest market town in Hertfordshire nestling just off the old Ermine Street (now the A10 trunk road) in the north east of the county. The community of some 7,000 souls is served by a vibrant High Street with many independent businesses and a number of interesting historic buildings.

Buntingford u3a serves over 500 members through over 30 different interest groups with new ones being started regularly. Details of these can be found on the Groups page. It also participates with neighbouring u3as through local, county-wide and national networks and we also serve the needs of the outlying rural villages around the town.

We provide information about other events around the Buntingford area, about discounts open to our members, and pointers to information that is useful for our members. All this is found on our Information page.
