Buckhurst Hill

Welcome to Buckhurst Hill u3a

About the u3a

The u3a movement aims to encourage people in their ‘third age’ to come together and develop their interests in a friendly and informal way. If you are wondering what we mean by the ‘third age’ – it is the period after you have finished working full time or raising a family and now have an opportunity to pursue your interests or try something new.

The u3a movement is self-funded and there are currently over 1000 u3as with around 430,000 members throughout the UK all of which are run "by the members for the members" which is the underlying ethos of the u3a movement.

The video at the bottom of this page will tell you more about the u3a and some of the people who belong to it.

Buckhurst Hill u3a - Charity Registration No. 1178911

Buckhurst Hill u3a is an extremely friendly group of people which was established in January 2015, and continues to expand and thrive. As of December 2023, we have over 30 interest groups and 285 members.

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for all our members to share friendship, knowledge, skills and experiences, whilst at the same time having a lot of fun.

We meet at 2pm on the second Thursday of every month at Roding Valley Hall Station Way, Buckhurst Hill Essex IG9 6LN. (Doors open at 1.30pm)
