Family History Group 🌳
Well it's been over a year since the Family History Group was formed and we now have 12 members researching their own family histories.
We have made so much progress during our first year and have uncovered some exciting, often perplexing stories about our families.
We have discovered how addictive Family History research is; where one small snippet of information you find, leads you on a new path to ask further questions.
On the right you can read some of the family stories from the group and see how we are progressing - just click on the link to view.
The Family History Group meets once a month, and is run by a U3A member who is an experienced genealogist. We also keep in touch between meeting to support each other in our investigations.
So much Family History is now available on the Internet, and it is on-line that researchers must build the foundations of their family trees. However there is still a myriad of further information available which can only be viewed in person at document archives.
In January this year the group visited the Society of Genealogists, a leading family history archive in London. We had a guided tour and were able to use the library afterwards. Again on the right you can read about our visit - just click the link.
Although there are 12 members already in the group, if any BHU3A members would like to join (I'm sure we can squeeze you in!) or want any information or help with their own family tree please contact Sue Meredith via the attached link.
