Beer Appreciation

What can we say - a "cunning plan" or a reason for pleasant conversation, in pleasant surroundings with good company and the opportunity to enjoy a hop filled beverage.

Our aim is to visit recommended local hostelries, always mindful of the need for access to alternative transport, and compare their real ale options. Perhaps including the occasional brewery visit and local beer festival.

One original proposal is that we select a local bus route (alternative transport) and sample the inns along it's route - one stop a month!!

January 2018 saw us visit our first beer festival. A unique experience for many of us, howver between us we were able to sample 24 different beers and discuss their various merits. I should perhaps add we were only drinking 1/3 pints!!!

Interestingly there was one beer(Pucks Folly)which had been tried at one of our local pubs (and the report had not been good!) here it was excellent (one can only assume it had not been kept well in the pub concerned).

There were a couple of strong ales to hand (7.5 and 12.5 ABV) but it was decided, despite the temptation to try, that later appointments meant discretion was the better part of 9reluctant) valour - perhaps next time.
