Bridge Club

The Bridge Club was first established in January 2011 as a Bridge for Beginners Class. Now, after eight years, most of the original members are enjoying their bridge at a reasonable level every Thursday evening at Brixworth Heritage Centre from 7.15 to 9.45 for a small fee of £1, which covers the cost of the hire of the rooms. It is also an ideal environment for those wishing to improve their bridge skills, for which help and advice can be provided. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Brian Collett on 01604 881617 or by email via the Brixworth U3A website.

Introduced at the start of 2014, one Thursday each month from January through to November is set aside for a Duplicate Bridge Challenge Competition at which each pair of randomly drawn players play all the other randomly drawn pairs using pre-dealt hands. Topping the League Table at the end of 2014 was Mark Fitzgerald, with Barry Johnson being crowned champion in 2015, followed by Lynda Stevenson in 2016 and Ruby Cole in 2017. Crowned League Champion in 2018, is previous winner Barry Johnson from Scaldwell who narrowly saw off late challenges from Richard Hartley and John Roberts, with top lady being Belinda Collett who held onto fourth place.
