Photography Group
What it is: A group for people who would like to develop their photography skills with the occasional aid of a teacher, but more often by learning from each other
When it is: Monthly on the third Monday afternoon of each month at 2.00 pm. Occasionally at other times. Most meetings will last about 2 hours. In addition, once a month we meet to photograph an event, for example a carnival. We plan to also meet every couple of months on Zoom.
Where it is: Each meeting place will be determined by group members. We spend up to about one hour on a photographic shoot. There is usually a theme or a challenge to focus on. Towards the end of the afternoon, we meet together in a pub or café for a drink and to discuss the afternoon, or any photography related topic.
Some time may be devoted to examining last month's efforts. Winter meetings may well be indoors photographing specialised subjects.
There is a private Flickr page where members can display their photos. I am afraid we cannot give access to non members.
We have an extensive library of fantastic photographic books given to us by a retired professional wild life photographer. Click the link to see a full list of titles. Members may borrow them freely. Judy has them at her house and she is happy for group members to go to her house and look through them at any time.
We have added a Photography Resources page which you may find useful. This is a list we have compiled of photographers to follow, photography teachers, lessons, workshops and holidays, that various members can recommend.
If you'd like to join us or would like further information, please contact one of the group convenors by clicking on the "send a message" link.
Contact before coming. Parking, buses and accessibility will vary depending on the meeting place.
