Politics: A Brave New World, Redland
What it is: "What in the world is going on; and how much does it matter to us?"
A chance to discuss the political events likely to affect the world we all live in.
When it is: Thursdays, 10.30am - 12 noon, fortnightly.
Where it is: Redland, BS6 7EH. (Near the main entrance of Redland Green school.)
Group members decide which topics to discuss relating to domestic and international politics. All sessions are introduced/led by group members, often in pairs. To date we have discussed China, Russia, populism and nationalism, corruption, to name a few. Future topics will include America, North Korea, globalisation, and the role of social media as an information channel.
Since lockdown we have been meeting weekly via Zoom. Sessions last for an hour and everyone enjoys them. It keeps everyone connected which is hugely important. Group members have learned how to share documents on screen, put virtual hands up when they want to speak, mute and unmute, so it's great.
We do have vacancies at present. If interested, or for further information, contact the convenor via the pigeon Send a message button.
