Current Affairs, Henleaze
What it is: We discuss matters of current interest in the fields of politics and society at home and abroad.
When it is: We meet on the 3rd Monday in the month, from 10.00 to 12.00.
Where it is: At Maple Grange, Henleaze Road, BS9 54NF
We aim:
- To clarify our views on important issues
- To keep better informed
- To keep our minds active and alert
- To practice the art of listening
Topics are chosen by the group and different views and opinions are shared and respected. Members often bring along cuttings from newspapers to launch a discussion on something which particularly interests them. Learning from those with more knowledge and information is stimulating and appreciated. At recent meetings we discussed the proposed dumping of nuclear waste into the Pacific Ocean, the death of our shopping centres and the annoyances of online shopping.
